Thousands back Sefilyan’s bid for Armenian citizenship
About 7000 people have joined an Armenian youth organization’s initiative to back former Karabakh war hero Jirair Sefilian’s bid for Armenian citizenship.
The initiative was organized by the Unity of Hayazn Youth that also launched an online petition on Facebook calling Armenian citizens to join their move.
On Wednesday the organization gathered 3000 signatures outside the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan.
A number of political figures and organizations have already joined the initiative in support of Jirair Sefilian. They account their decision for Sefilian’s activity and contribution to Armenia.
On July 10, the activists will hold a procession to the presidential residence to hand the letter with attached signatures to President Serzh Sargsyan.
