Herman Gmayner was born in 1919, on June the 23^rd, Austria in the peasant’s family. In early age he had lost his mother. After the Second World War, while exploring the medicine in Innsbruck University he realized the hard condition of many orphaned and homeless children and was convinced that in order to support these children they should be received real family warmth. In 1949 he founded the first “SOS-Kid’s village” in Imst. Later this idea took its way out of the Austria’s borders and today in 132 countries exists 350 “SOS- Kid’s village”.

“Abovyan urban polyclinic” was founded in 1965 and was called “Regional central hospital”. In 1996 was realized amendments and separate independent units were created. In 2000 polyclinic involved some village’s branches. The head physician of “Abovyan urban polyclinic” Mr. R. Hovhanissyan will answer to our questions.  

-          How is the doctor-patient relationship?

-          If there used to be a period when the patient stir up because of the financial problems, spoiled relationship, now it’s in good state. Usually the patient is satisfied. They get normal treatment from the side of the doctor, everything is just great.

 -      My congratulations to the Abovyan city. 42 years old; like the age of mature man. This is not a young city but developing and well formed city having great perspectives. We all should do our best in order to make interesting our living in this city, that all have work and the city gross up step by step. All the best to you and my congratulations, - for this festive occasion expressed his opinion the President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan.

One should search the people’s fate star not in the sky but in their hearts and nature...

This year was the 24 anniversary of ASALA and ”Van” operation. Numerous events are organized both in Armenian and in Diaspora dedicated to ASALA. The Abovyan city wasn’t exception as well. With the initiative of Harutyun Stepanyan and support of mayor K. Israelyan was organized a matinee devoted to ASALA. There were invited “Erzrum” kid’s band (the head Grigor Hambaryan) and the Yerevan “Karin” singing-dancing group. “To arms” song was sounded... three decades ago it had been demonstrated but this time it was dedicated to ASALA, in the name of Armenian trail, in the name of Armenian revenge and in the name of Armenian existence. On the 5^th of October the main Hedgehog of the republic visits the Abovyan very slowly but at the same time with inflexible steps. Who has no idea of this name, so we want inform that he is famous for making rhyming,  the editor-in-chief of the comic magazine “Vozni” (Hedgehog), VJ of TV show “Home of laugh”, our lovely “fist class” toastmaster Aramais Sahakyan. Just from the beginning the atmosphere was warm and friendly thanks to Mr. Sahakyan’s humor stories, where have their participation students and pupils and I should confess also we i.e. your obedient servant www.abovyan.com

October 10^th is the World Mental Health’s Day. Since 1992 International Federation of Mental Health carries out numerous events the aim of which is to concentrate the wide mass’ attention to the basic problem of mental health. For the first time this day was celebrated in our country in 1996 by the Armenian Mental Health Foundation.

 Mental Health (MH) is the indivisible part of the health due to which human realizes feelings and emotions, activities in different lifetime’s situations, stresses etc. It expresses in person’s self-appreciations, self-consciousness, in own life and towards the surroundings, conditions the formation of our views and emotions as well as making a choice.
